MONASTICISM

Monkery is not a Divine institution. Monkery is a man-made recluse–(Qur’an 57:27).

“Jesus neither advocated nor recommended celibacy…Sun-worship alone can explain it. Mithraism had its monks and nuns, as Tertulian admits, with the tonsure in honour of the disc of the Sun. To be shorn of hair is, doubtless, a sign of asceticism; but it is the form of the tonsure–the round bare place on the head of the Romish priests and monks, formed by shaving the hair, that bears resemblance to the disc of the Sun.…The Holy Communion also represents the ancient Eucharistic Ceremony, which was observed from Persia to Peru, in every Sun-worship country.”1

Islam teaches that everything was created for man’s use. We are to enjoy the benefits of this world; but not to the neglect of our spiritual life.

Allāh God did not make man and woman and put love and desire between them to live lives of celibacy. Allāh, God, made man and woman to “fill the earth.” To accomplish His plan He did not leave it to chance; He instilled in us love and desire. Even in the lower animals this drive for companionship of the other sex is present.

If all humans were to now practice celibacy then (barring cloning and non-sexual fertilization) in about a hundred and twenty years time mankind would be extinct.
