MOKSH/MOKSA
MOKSH/MOKSA is said to mean “Liberation” or “enlightenment.” The ultimate “moksa” is the liberation of the soul from the cycle of births and deaths (reincarnation).
But Karma and Reincarnation are not Divine doctrines. They are not clearly expressed in the Veda:
“The origin and the development of the belief in the transmigration of souls are very obscure…This doctrine of samsara (reincarnation) is attributed to the sage Uddalaka Aruni, who is said to have learned it from a Ksatriya chief. In the same text, the doctrine of karma (works)…also occurs for the first time, attributed to Yajnavalkya. Both doctrines appear to have been new and strange ones, circulating among small groups of ascetics who were disinclined to make them public”-(Ency. Brit; 15th Ed; Vol. 8, p. 911. Underlines added).
Anoop Chandola states in his book The Way To True Worship:
“Through contact, the Aryans and non -Aryans began to modify and integrate each other’s pathways. In the context of religion, for example, the Austro-Asiatics may have contributed the belief in each life passing to another life. This belief later, in the form of reincarnation, became a major element in the Upanishads.“-(p.8. Emphasis added).
If reincarnation was Divine bequeath it could not be speculated to have been “contributed” by the “Austro-Asiatics.”
“Liberation” (moksa) of the soul is “attainable only by a male of twice-born genus who has followed the sacrificial code through the three life stages of student, householder, and forest dweller”–(Ency; Brit; 15th Ed; Vol. 3, p. 988. Emphasis added).
As noted, Moksa is the liberation of the soul from the cycle of deaths and rebirths (Reincarnation) and is attainable only by MALES.
But as shown, Reincarnation (and Karma) is NOT a Divine doctrine. Thus, as there is no deaths and rebirths from which to be liberated THERE IS NO MOKSA.
Wikipedia notes: “The Vedas suggest three goals of man: kama, artha and dharma. To these, the Upanishadic era added moksha. The acceptance of the concept of moksha in some schools of Hindu philosophy was slow. These refused to recognize moksha for centuries, considering it irrelevant.” (Emphasis added).
To restate: Moksa/Moksha, is the liberation of the soul from the cycle of rebirths and deaths –reincarnation. But as there is no Divine doctrine of reincarnation and karma, then Moksa, which is based on reincarnation and karma, is not only “irrelevant”, Moksa does not exist. Like Karma and Reincarnation, Moksa is an assumption.
