\nLord of the worlds<\/span>
\nAND TO<\/span>
\nMohammad\u2013who brought the world<\/span>
\nto our feet and eternity to our arms.
\n*<\/span><\/p>\n

ISLAM\u2013SECTISM<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c(Be not) Of those<\/span>
\nwho split up their religion<\/span>
\nand become parties;<\/span>
\nevery sect rejoicing<\/span>
\nin that which is with it\u201d<\/span>
\n(Qur\u2019an 30:32)<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite this clear injunction of Allah there is a legion of groups. With each group brandishing the Qur\u2019an aloft and professing to be following it. Clearly, they cannot be following Allah\u2019s Qur\u2019an! Clearly, to foster sectism is to defy All\u0101h. And we expect to attain Jannah. (???).\u00a0\u00a0 Prophet Mohammad taught us:<\/span><\/p>\n

A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should neither oppress him nor hand him over to an oppressor. And whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs\u2013(Bokhari Vol. 9, #83).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Fourteen hundred years ago Allah the Glorious and the High revealed His Words to Prophet Mohammad who conveyed it to us by his precepts and practice. Words so incisive that within 23 years it transformed an entire nation of barbaric and heathenistic people into the most powerful, brotherly, God-fearing and God-conscious beings. Sadly, however, today the Muslim nation is anything but God-fearing, powerful, or brotherly.<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Whatever difference(s) we have in understanding the verses of the Qur’an is no license for division \u2013the judgment thereof is with Allah, He will make clear to us wherein we differed (Qur’an 42:10-13; 39:46; 16:92).<\/span>(To those who persist in sectism, what part of \u2018<\/span><\/i>Do not divide your religion; Allah will show us the truth of the matter wherein we differ\u2019<\/span> do you not under-stand?) <\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 And Prophet Mohammad is reported to have said that difference of opinion among his followers is a blessing. But Muslims have denigrated this blessing into a curse (by dividing ourselves).<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Regardless of how shallow he may be in intelligence, or how wrong in his interpretation of the Qur\u2019an, how can a believer in Allah who advances his argument from the Qur\u2019an be called a kafir\/disbeliever<\/i>?<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Our common factors as Muslims are Faith in Allah and the Messengership of Mohammad; Prayer, Charity, Fasting and Hajj.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe believers are brethren,<\/span>
\nso make peace between your brethren\u201d<\/span>
\n\u201cNever should a Believer kill a Believer\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\n\u201cIf a man kills a Believer intentionally,<\/span>
\nhis recompense is Hell, to abide therein (For ever):<\/span>
\nand the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him,<\/span>
\nand a dreadful penalty is prepared for him\u201d<\/span>
\n\u201c…and say not to any one who offers you<\/span>
\nsalutation, thou art not a believer…\u201d<\/span>
\n(Qur\u2019an 49:10; 4:92, 93, 94).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Every person who accepts the kalima <\/i>\u2013There is no God but Allah, Mohammad is the Messenger of Allah\u2013<\/i> <\/span>is a Muslim. Only his\/her renouncing this formula of belief can remove him\/her from Islam.<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Muhammad Ali has noted in his The Religion of Islam<\/i>, that as explained by Ibn Kathir in his dictionary of tradition, the Nihaya<\/i>, that: \u201cKufr<\/i> (unbelief) is of two kinds: one is denial of the faith itself, and that is the opposite of faith; and the other is a denial of a far<\/i>‘ (branch) of the furu<\/i>‘ (branches) of Islam, and on account of it a man does not get out of the faith itself.\u201d (p. 123).<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Regardless of the depth of his error, a Muslim who advances his arguments from the Qur\u2019an cannot be a called a kafir <\/i>(disbeliever).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Prophet Mohammad is reported to have said, \u201cThree things are the basis of faith: to withhold from one who confesses faith in la ilaha ill-Allah<\/i>, you should not call him kafir<\/i> for any sin, nor expel him from Islam for any deed…\u201d (Abu Dawud 15:33)\u201d.
\nAnd \u2018Umar is reported to have said, \u201cWhoever calls the people of la ilaha ill-Allah<\/i> unbeliever (kafir<\/i>) is himself nearer to unbelief (kufr<\/i>).\u201d1<\/span><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

Further, Prophet Mohammad is reported to have said that, Whoever prays like us and faces our Qibla and eats our slaughtered animals is a Muslim and is under Allah\u2019s and His Apostle\u2019s protection. So do not betray Allah by betraying those who are in His protection.\u00a0\u00a0 And that: If somebody accuses another of Fusuq (by calling him Fasiq, i.e. a wicked person) or accuses him of Kufr, such an accusation will revert to him (i.e. the accuser) if his companion (the accused) is innocent. Also, \u201ccursing a believer is like murdering him; and whoever accuses a believer of disbelief, then it is as if he had killed him\u201d\u2013(Bokhari Vol. 1 # 386. Vol. 8 # 71 \u2013See also chapter 73. And #’s 125 (A), 125 (B), 126).<\/span><\/p>\n

Believers are those who believe in Allah<\/span>
\nand His Messenger, and who doubts not<\/span>
\nand struggle in the way of All\u0101h<\/span>
\n(Qur\u2019an 49:15).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHusain Ahmad Madani, This well-known Deobandi theologian of this century has written in his autobiography Naqsh-i Hayat<\/i>: \u201cAll great scholars are unanimous in holding that if, out of hundred ingredients of the belief of some Muslim, ninety-nine are those of unbelief, and merely one of true Islamic faith, it is not allowed to call him kafir<\/i>, .\u2026In fact, Hazrat Gangohi [a founder of Deoband religious school] clearly states in his Anwar al-Qulub<\/i> that the saying of the jurists about ninety-nine grounds<\/i> does not set a limit, and that if 999 out of a thousand points in the belief of a Muslim are unbelief (kufr<\/i>) and only one is true belief, even then he cannot be called kafir<\/i>.\u201d (Naqsh-i-Hayat<\/i>, vol. i. p. 126).\u201d2<\/span><\/sup> (Muslims, who are hasty to call other Muslims kafir, must take keen note of this).<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sayyid Abul Ala Maudoodi, states: \u201cIn these hadith, the Holy Prophet has explained the constitutional law of Islam. And that is that when a person professes the unity of God and the apostle-ship of the Holy Prophet, he enters the fold of Islam and becomes a citizen of the Islamic state. As to whether he is a true believer or not, only God can judge that. We are not permitted to judge it because of the [Holy Prophet\u2019s] words: \u2018I have not been commanded to cut open people’s hearts and search their inner selves<\/i>.\u2019 Security of life and property is established by the mere confession of unity and apostleship.\u201d(Tafhimat<\/i>, Pathankot, India, 1942, p. 164).\u201d3<\/span><\/sup> <\/span><\/p>\n

Maudoodi also said, \u201cYou become Muslims by reciting a few words called the Kalimah: La ilaha illa ‘llah Muhammadu’r-rasulu ‘llaah:<\/i> There is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.\u201d And that \u201cthere should be as much caution in calling a Muslim kafir as there is in pronouncing a death sentence against someone….Should there even be an iota of Islamic belief in that man\u2019s heart, the slander of kufr shall reflect back upon the accuser.\u201d4<\/span><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

From the above it is clear that there are varying degrees in being a Muslim; acceptance of the Kalimah <\/i>is the first degree.<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 As well there are varying degrees of kufr\/disbelief. <\/i> A person who believes in the ‘Kalimah<\/i>‘ cannot be properly called a kafir<\/i>; he remains a Believer\/Muslim even though he may be guilty of an act of unbelief.<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Since acceptance of the Kalimah<\/i> makes one a Muslim, only renouncing it can remove one from Islam. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As stated, difference in opinion and in interpretation of the Qur\u2019an does not remove one from Islam, nor does it constitute disbelief. The judgment thereof is with Allah, He will make clear to us wherein we differed\u2013(Qur’an 16:92; 39:46; 42:10).\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 To restate, our common factors as Muslims are Faith in Allah and the Messengership of Mohammad; Prayer, Charity, Fasting and Hajj. <\/span><\/p>\n

Muhammad Ali has rightly stated: \u201cIt is the duty of every Muslim to maintain the unity of Islam. An attitude of indifference towards fatwas <\/i>of kufr,<\/i> directed against their own brethren by ignorant Mullas, has dealt a fatal blow to the union of Muslim brotherhood, and, if the Muslims do not raise their voice against these fatwas<\/i>, they must never hope to make any progress towards real union.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 And, \u201cThe solidarity of Islam is being shattered today by narrow-minded Mullas who, on one pretext or another, issue fatwas <\/i>of kufr<\/i>, against this or that party of Muslims\u201d\u2013(Qur\u2019anic comm. #\u2019s 2329, 2332).<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 The finality of prophethood with Prophet Mohammad does not close the door to Allah communicating with His righteous servants \u2013(Bokhari. Vol. 9, #\u2019s 119, 116, 112, 123).<\/span><\/p>\n

Prophet Mohammad is the cement that binds us to the \u201crope of Allah\u201d<\/i><\/strong><\/span>
\nFourteen hundred years ago Prophet Mohammad brought us from darkness into light; he took us from ignorance into knowledge; he brought us from tribalism into unity \u2013he demolished the barriers from among Muslims.<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Today, We have taken the gilded scepter of Islam and forged it around our necks into a yoke of defeat, division and dependency.<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 The noble Messenger of Allah admonishes us: <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018After my death, do not become disbelievers<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/span>
\nby cutting the necks of one another\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/span>
\n(Bokhari Vol. 9, # 7).<\/span>
\nA Muslim is a brother of another Muslim.<\/span>
\nSo he should neither oppress him nor hand<\/span>
\nhim over to an oppressor. And whoever fulfilled<\/span>
\nthe needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs.<\/span>
\n(Bokhari Vol. 9, #83).<\/span><\/p>\n

And speaking about Dhul-Hijjah, Makkah and Eid-ul-Adha, the noble Messenger says to the Muslims)
\n\u201cYour blood (lives), your properties are as sacred to one another like the sanctity of this Day of yours in this town of yours, in this month of yours. You shall meet your Lord and He will ask about your deeds. <\/span>Beware! Don\u2019t go astray after me <\/span><\/strong>by striking the necks of one another\u201d-<\/span><\/strong>(Bokhari Vol. 9, # 539).<\/span>
\nBut Muslims are lopping off the heads of Muslims en masse.<\/span><\/p>\n

And on the defensive front, All\u0101h enjoins: \u201cO you who believe, be steadfast and try to excel in steadfastness and guard (the frontiers, against the enemy). <\/i><\/strong>And keep your duty to Allah that you may be successful.\u201d \u201cAnd make ready for them whatever force you can and horses tied at the frontier, to frighten thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them, whom you <\/i><\/span>know not\u2013Allah knows them. <\/i> \u2026.\u201d-<\/span>(Qur\u2019an; 3:199; 8:60).
\nThe words and others besides them, whom you know not \u2013Allah knows them, <\/i>in reference to the enemies of Islam, seem prophetic. Soon after the death of the Prophet, Muslims had to defend themselves against the Byzantine and Persian Empires. Today, because of military inferiority, Muslims are transgressed upon mercilessly. \u201cThe disbelievers are protectors, one of another: Unless you (Muslims) do this (protect each other), <\/span><\/i>there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief\u201d-(Qur\u2019an 8:73).<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 One only has to glance around to realize the magnitude of the truth of this statement by All\u0101h \u2013the carving up of the Middle east; Palestine; Bosnia; Kashmir; Kosovo; Chechnya; Iraq, Afghanistan. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Qur’an is our constitution!<\/i><\/span> \u201cHas not the time yet come for the believers <\/span>that their hearts should be humble for the <\/span>remembrance of Allah and the <\/span>Truth that is revealed\u2026.\u201d-<\/span>(Qur\u2019an 57:16).\u00a0<\/span> There is no occasion in the Qur\u2019an for sectism. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Has not the time yet come for<\/i> Arabia, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Kuwait, Sudan, Turkey, and all other Muslim nations, to abandon their differences and to unite under our commonalities in Islam in all matters \u2013from economic to military?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0 Has not the time yet come for<\/i> East and West Pakistan to reunite (as did North and South Yemen)?
\nWe can sing our lips off from now till Judgment Day we will get no help from Allah! No help! Not unless and until we return to the Qur\u2019an and Sunnah; not unless and until we milk from our hearts the venom of sectarian hatred; not unless and until we demolish all the barriers that we have erected against the other! <\/span><\/p>\n

We must end our internecine warfare: \u201cNever should a Believer kill a Believer;\u201d<\/i> Muslims are of one Brotherhood<\/i>; so make peace<\/i> between your brothers; \u201cAfter my death, do not become disbelievers by cutting the necks of one another<\/i>\u201d\u2013(Qur\u2019an 4:92; 21:92; 49:10; Bokhari Vol. 9, # 7);
\n<\/span>
\nWe must take to the text books and lab \u201cand say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge\u201d\u2013(Qur\u2019an 20:114). The venerable Caliph, \u2018Umar, reminds us: \u201cGod gave us honor and greatness through Islam, and if we seek it now in other ways than those enjoined by Islam, God will again bring us into disgrace.\u201d5<\/span><\/sup>
\n<\/span><\/span>
\nWe must uproot and incinerate this cancer of sectarian prejudice that is ravaging the Ummah of Mohammad and galvanize our hearts with the flame of Oneness!
\n<\/span>
\nWe have to cease being hyphenated Muslims: Saudi-Muslim, Iraqi-Muslim, Iranian, Pakistani, Turk, Syrian, Palestinian, Indian, West Indian, black, white, yellow; Sunni-Muslim, Shi\u2019ah -Muslim \u2026\u2026.etc.
\nWe are Muslims!<\/span> <\/i>First, last, and foremost!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

That the Prophet said Islam will have some seventy sects, is no license to divide ourselves when Allah, the Highest, says, (be not) \u201cOf those who split up their religion and become parties; every sect rejoicing in that which is with it\u201d <\/i><\/strong>\u201cHe (Allah) has made plain to you the religion which He enjoined upon Noah and which We have revealed to thee, and which We enjoined on Abraham and Moses and Jesus\u2013to establish religion and not to be divided therein<\/span><\/i><\/strong>. …\u201d\u2013(Qur\u2019an 30:[30-31] 32; 42:13).<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 We are not to align ourselves behind such foolish \u2018sectist\u2019 leaders! <\/i><\/strong>They are to be removed from office!<\/span><\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Every Masjid -except Masjid al-Haram in Makkah,\u00a0 Masjid Nabawi in Madinah, and Al-Aqsa and Al-Sakhra (Dome of the Rock) in Jerusalem, Palestine-<\/span>\u00a0 must be renamed, or have added to its name, the title \u201cUmmah of Mohammad\u2013Islamic Center\u201d and identified by its street address, i.e. \u201cUmmah of Mohammad \u2013Islamic Center\u201d 123 “X” street.
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0-Muslims must govern by policy not by personality \u2013by the Qur\u2019an not by the dictates of leadership.<\/span> This will make the com-munity less susceptible to foreign influence and manipulation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Islam is the Uniting force!<\/span><\/i><\/span>
\nIslam is the Liberating force!<\/span><\/i><\/span>
\nIslam is the Triumphant force!<\/span><\/i><\/span>
\nIslam is the Transcendental force!<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

When we segregate ourselves into camps of hyphenated-Muslims we not only lose our unifying factor, but also become easy victims of manipulation and aggression.\u00a0<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 It would be our monumental and eternal shame and disgrace, being the best nation with nothing to divide us and everything \u2013the five pillars\u2013<\/span> to cohere us, that we cannot be united.
\n<\/span>
\nHjrah<\/i><\/span> 1444 (year 2023) can be our reunification date. It is not a stupendous task for us to be united \u2013we already are, under the Holy Kalimah.<\/i> <\/span>The tribes of 7th<\/sup> century Arabia had lascivity, poetry and idolatry: they united. We have All\u0101h, the Prophet and Qur\u2019an \u2013the invincible trio: Power, morality, spirituality.<\/span> With All\u0101h, the Prophet and Qur\u2019an we have the world at our feet and eternity in our arms: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201ccertainly the remembrance of All\u0101h<\/span><\/span>
\nis the greatest (force)\u201d<\/span><\/span>
\n\u201cAnd trust in All\u0101h. And All\u0101h is enough<\/span><\/span>
\nas having charge (of affairs)\u201d<\/span><\/span>
\n\u201cSurely All\u0101h will not fail in (His) promise\u201d<\/span><\/span>
\n\u201cAll\u0101h is the Friend of the dutiful\u201d<\/span><\/span>
\n\u201cAll\u0101h has promised to those of you<\/span><\/span>
\nwho believe and do good that<\/span><\/span>
\nHe will surely make them rulers\u201d<\/span><\/span>
\n(Qur\u2019an 29:45; 33:3; 13:31; 45:19; 24:55).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Muslims are destined to be successful, victorious, and triumphant. Let us embark on our destiny!<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Over a thousand years ago al-Ma\u2019mun, the Abbasid Caliph, is said to have failed in his efforts to unite Sunni and Shi\u2019ah. Today, it behooves us not to fail.<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 That which divides us is ephemeral \u2013our fallibility!<\/span> That which unites us is eternal \u2013it permeates the soul: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

La ilaha ill-Allah,
\nMohammadur-Rasul-Allah!<\/span><\/i><\/span>
\nAllaho Akbar!<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 You decide; what will you have \u2013sectism or Jannah<\/i>? <\/span>\u00a0The choice is ours!<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 We can go through life divided and with bowed heads muttering meekly, Allaho Akbar. Or we can go through life united and with hands triumphantly thrusted into the air proclaiming vociferously ALLAHO AKBAR!!!<\/span><\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
