Atrocities by Muslims


In the Name of Allāh

unto all His prophets.
Allāh–the Glorious and the High,
Lord of the worlds
Mohammad–who brought the world
to our feet and eternity to our arms.

2. Secular/Western knowledge: There is no such item as “secular” or “western” knowledge; all knowledge is from Allah, see Islam-knowledge.
However, Muslims who condemn or are against “western” knowledge/education must consider where the armaments, computers, cell phones and other devices that they use came from –they came from the “western” brain. To condemn the “western” knowledge/education and to take benefit from them is the height of hypocrisy.

3. Bombing non-Muslims into Islam: Muslims who believe they have the God-given right to bomb people into accepting Islam needs to revisit/visit the Qur’an. Allāh makes it abundantly clear that Prophet Mohammad’s duty was only to deliver the Qur’anic Message NOT enforce it–(Qur’an 3:20; 5:99; 10:99; 13:40; 16:82; 24:54; 29:18; 46:35; 64:12). And
“Then maybe thou wilt kill thyself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they believe not in this announcement.” “And if thy Lord had pleased, all those who are in the earth would have believed, all of them. Wilt thou then force men till they are believers?”–(Qur’an 18:6; 10:99).
Prophet Mohammad did not fight wars to enforce Islam; he fought to end persecution. Upon his triumph at Makkah over his inveterate enemies of twenty-three years he not only forgave them, “The Prophet left the kings of Arabia and her princes on their thrones with their territories, economies, and political structures virtually untouched. In conquering, the Muslims sought the freedom to preach the faith”–(Muhammad Husayn Haykal, The Life of Muhammad, p.588).
So, Prophet Mohammad was not given authority to force people into Islam but Allāh has given you this authority?

4. Abduction, rape, forced marriage and execution:
Abduction and ransom: Prophet Mohammad was not allowed to abduct people and demand ransom from them or their families etc. Prophet Mohammad fought defensive wars and took prisoners-of-war from whom he took ransom or set free as a favor:
-“It is not fit for a prophet to take captives unless he has fought and triumphed in the land. You desire the frail goods of this world, while Allāh desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allāh is Mighty, Wise”–Qur’an 8:67).
-“So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, smite the necks; then, when you have overcome them, make (them) prisoners, and afterwards (set them free) as a favour or for ransom till the war lay down its burdens”–Qur’an 47:4).

Rape: Islam esteems womanhood as the symbol of purity (and motherhood as gateway to paradise). To ravage a woman is to violate her sacredness, and desecrate her Divine-given honor.

Forced marriage: Abducting/kidnapping women and force them into marriage is contrary to Islam.
A woman has the right to choose her husband–(Qur’an 2:232; 2:240; Bokhari Vol. 7, #67, 68; Vol. 9, #98, 100-101).
Forced marriages are invalid–(Bokhari Vol. 7, #69; Vol. 9, #78).
A woman may also propose to a man–(Bokhari Vol. 7 #’s 48, 53, 54; Vol. 3, #505). (See Islam-women).

Execution: To kidnap people and execute them is murder. Which mandates the killer losing his own head:
-Say: Come! I will recite what your Lord has forbidden to you: Associate naught with Him and do good to parents and slay not your children for (fear of) poverty — We provide for you and for them — and draw not nigh to indecencies, open or secret, and kill not the soul which Allāh has made sacred except in the course of justice. This He enjoins upon you that you may understand–(Qur’an 6:152)
-“O you who believe, retaliation is prescribed for you in the matter of the slain: the free for the free, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if remission is made to one by his (aggrieved) brother, prosecution (for blood-money) should be according to usage, and payment to him in a good manner. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. Whoever exceeds the limit after this, will have a painful chastisement”–(Qur’an 2:178).

Abduction, rape, kidnap, demand of ransom and killing the innocent would fall under “mischief in the land” which, depending on the severity of the crime, carries a penalty ranging from imprisonment to crucifixion:
“The only punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is that they should be murdered, or crucified, or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides, or they should be imprisoned. This shall be a disgrace for them in this world, and in the Hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement. Except those who repent before you overpower them; so know that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful”–Qur’an 5:33-34. While this verse was revealed against opponents that fought against the Prophet; its application is general).

5. Muslims killing Muslims. Muslims who kill Muslims (or advocate the killing of Muslims) because of a difference in views are fuel for the Fire: Allāh admonishes us:
“And a believer would not kill a believer except by mistake. And he who kills a believer by mistake should….”
“And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell, abiding therein; and Allāh is wroth with him and He has cursed him and prepared for him a grievous chastisement”–(Qur’an 4:92, 93).

Prophet Mohammad is reported to have said, “Three things are the basis of faith: to withhold from one who confesses faith in la ilaha ill-Allah, you should not call him kafir for any sin, nor expel him from Islam for any deed…” (Abu Dawud 15:33)”. 
And Caliph ‘Umar is reported to have said, “Whoever calls the people of la ilaha ill-Allah unbeliever (kafir) is himself nearer to unbelief (kufr).”

Prophet Mohammad is also noted as admonishing us :
-After my death, do not become disbelievers by cutting the necks of one another’ (Bokhari Vol. 9, # 7).
-A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should neither oppress him nor hand him over to an oppressor. And whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs. (Bokhari Vol. 9, #83).
-(And speaking about Eid-al-Adha, Makkah and Dhul-Hijjah, the noble Messenger says to the Muslims): “Your blood (lives), your properties are as sacred to one another like the sanctity of this Day of yours in this town of yours, in this month of yours. You shall meet your Lord and He will ask about your deeds. Beware! Don’t go astray after me by striking the necks of one another.” (Bokhari Vol. 9, # 539). (See Islam-sectism among Muslims).

6. Excommunication -Muslims excommunicating Muslims: There are varying degrees to being a Muslim. The first degree is the acceptance that “There is no God but Allāh; Mohammad is the Messenger of Allāh.” The other degrees depend on how many of the ordinances of Islam one observe.
No one can excommunicate a Muslim from Islam: only a Muslim can excommunicate his self from Islam (by renouncing the formula of faith: There is no God but Allāh; Mohammad is the Messenger of Allāh).

7. Sectism: Allāh admonishes:
-“(Be not) Of those who split up their religion and become parties; every sect rejoicing in that which is with it”-(Qur’an 30:32)
-“And be not like her who unravels her yarn, disintegrating it into pieces, after she has spun it strongly. You make your oaths to be means of deceit between you because (one) nation is more numerous than (another) nation. Allah only tries you by this. And He will certainly make clear to you on the day of Resurrection that wherein you differed”–(Qur’an 16:92)
-“And in whatever you differ, the judgment thereof is with Allåh”–(Qur’an 42:10).
So which part of Do not divide your religion; Allah will show us the truth of the matter wherein we differ’ do you not understand?

Our practice of Islam is NOT dependent on whether Hazrat Ali should have succeeded the Prophet or not. Our practice of Islam is not dependent on whether Jesus had a father or not, is in heaven or buried on earth, and will return to earth or not.
The main factors on which our passage into Paradise are based are (1) Unity/Purity of Allāh (2) Prayer (3) Zakaat/Charity (4) Fasting, and (5) Hajj/Pilgrimage to Makkah.
Muslims must be the biggest maroons in creation if we believe we can defy Allāh and sectify ourselves and even kill one another and yet expect for Allāh to give us Jannah!

Muslims are to seek knowledge on our own and not blindly follow our Imams. In blindly following Imams we make them into gods. Allāh revealed:
“They (Christians) take their doctors of law and their monks for lords besides Allāh, and (also) the Messiah, son of Mary. And they were enjoined that they should serve one God only — there is no god but He. Be He glorified from what they set up (with Him)!–(Qur’an 9:31, 34).
To which Muhammad Ali notes:
“It is related in a hadith that, when this verse was revealed, ‘Adi ibn Hatim, a convert from Christianity, asked the Holy Prophet as to the significance of this verse, for, he said, we did not worship our doctors of law and monks. The Holy Prophet’s reply was: Was it not that the people considered lawful what their priests declared to be lawful, though it was forbidden by God. Hatim replied in the affirmative. That, the Prophet said, was what the verse meant (Tirmidhi, 44:9; IJ). Muslims who accord a similar position to their pirs or saints are guilty of the same error.”

Allāh does not require us to blindly follow Him; He calls us in His Qur’an to follow Him through wisdom, reason, argument and examples.
The Qur’an is pregnant with exhortations for us to exercise reason, such as “Do you not reflect?” “Do you not understand?” “Have you no sense?” “There are signs in this for a people who reflect.”
And the crowning: “Call to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and argue with them in the best manner. Surely thy Lord knows best him who strays from His path, and He knows best those who go aright”–(Qur’an 16:125. This verse highlights that, contrary to popular perception, Islam does NOT seek to silence voices: Islam, the religion of reason, argument and examples, seeks to enhance mentality. Islam is blessed with the Divine allure of reason).

People who do not use their reasoning are likened to animals:
-“And certainly We have created for hell many of the jinn and the men — they have hearts wherewith they understand not, and they have eyes wherewith they see not, and they have ears wherewith they hear not. They are as cattle; nay, they are more astray. These are the heedless ones”–(Qur’an 7:179).
-“Surely the vilest of beasts, in Allāh’s sight, are the deaf, the dumb, who understand not”–(Qur’an 8:22; these are the “spiritually deaf and dumb — those who do not understand”, as noted by Muhammad Ali).

And Prophet Mohammad enjoined Muslims:
-to ‘seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave,’ to go to China if need be–(Baihaqi) Mishkat Misabih, Vol. 1, p. 361, #111 W);
-that seeking knowledge for 1 hour, is better than keeping wake whole night (in prayer): (Darimi) Mishkat Misabih Vol. 1-361-112 W);
-and that ‘the superiority of the learned scholar over the pious worshipper is like the superiority of the (full) moon over the stars’–(Abu Dawud Vol. 3, p.1034, # 3634).

Mercifully, we do not have to go to China or anyplace else to acquire knowledge. China and elsewhere come to us in our bedroom –the Internet through which we can access Muhammad Ali’s translation of the Qur’an (and perhaps his comprehensive work The Religion of Islam):
All one needs to do is read two pages a day –during lunch and coffee breaks– including MA’s footnotes which is a king Solomon’s mine of information. Compare the views of scholars and reason them out.

Unless one is subjugated and/or denied access to materials. There is no excuse in Islam for ignorance and blind faith. And blindly following Imams.
The necessity for knowing is underscored by Abu Bakr Siddiqui in his inaugural speech as Caliph; said the venerable Caliph: “Obey me as long as I obey God and His Prophet. But if I disobey God’s command or His Prophet’s, then no obedience is incumbent upon you.”-(Muhammad Husayn Haykal, The Life of Muhammad, p. 511).
The question is, how will we know if he is following Allah and His Prophet if we do not have knowledge?
